V Rising bosses list
Alpha Wolf (level 16)
Power: Wolf Form
The Alpha Wolf is the first boss you can track in V Rising, and likely the first boss new players will face in battle. That doesn’t make it easy, though, as the Alpha Wolf is level 16, which should be a similar level to your character if you’ve been focusing on quests. It has plenty of health and a few nasty bite attacks that will rip through your health bar, so make sure you know how to heal if you’re struggling in this fight. If you haven’t already, get some Copper so that you can craft better weapons and upgrade your gear score.
Keely the Frost Archer (level 20)
Power: Frost Bat Recipes: Tannery, Traveller’s Wrap, Empty Canteen, Leather
Keely the Frost Archer uses her bow to unleash magical frost arrows, but she doesn’t just fire one arrow at a time. Instead, Keely tends to fire in bursts with her attacks, using a scattered shotgun blast of 3 arrows at once and an AOE volley of arrows that will deal huge damage to anyone nearby. If you want to survive this fight, you’ll need to stay agile and be aware of where she’s aiming next. Since Keely lives in a bandit camp, expect other hostile NPCs to also join the fray, adding to the chaos of this boss fight. This can get overwhelming if you aren’t prepared, so consider bringing a friend along to help if you’re playing in a multiplayer server. If you defeat Keely the Frost Archer, you will unlock the Tannery recipe, which you can use to craft Leather.
Rufus the Foreman (level 20)
Power: Blood Rage Recipes: Woodworking Bench, Hunter’s Crossbow, Fishing Pole, Sculptured Wood, Painting Frame
Rufus the Foreman is a difficult early-game boss, so expect a significant challenge here. His fire crossbow deals huge damage and can kill low-level players in just a few hits, so you’ll need to use your dash ability to dodge frequently throughout this fight. Like Keely, Rufus lives in an NPC camp, so there are other hostile characters that will get pulled into the fight as you move around. Deal with these weaker enemies as they approach to avoid getting overwhelmed.
Errol the Stonebreaker (level 20)
Power: Aftershock Recipes: Big Stash
Errol the Stonebreaker is found in a mine near the centre of Farbane Woods. They have three key attacks: a spinning melee attack that occurs when you get close, a ranged surge of magical energy that they unleash in a straight line across the battlefield, and a hammer slam that sends out a burst of magic in multiple directions. This gives them a variety of melee and ranged attacks, but they take a while to wind up and should prove easy to avoid. Errol has a lot of health, so this fight is more a battle of endurance while you whittle him down and avoid the other enemies that litter the cave.
Lidia the Chaos Archer (level 26)
Power: Chaos Volley Recipes: The Devourer
Lidia the Chaos Archer imbues her arrows with chaos magic, but there’s no need to panic. Lidia is actually one of V Rising’s easiest bosses, as her arrows travel slowly and are easy to avoid. She does have an AOE attack which allows her to toss some chaos bombs in the air, but they won’t deal huge amounts of damage and are also easy enough to dodge. Lidia roams around so she may be a little harder to find, but her Chaos Volley ability is a strong AOE power that you can get early on to deal with groups of enemies.
Grayson the Armourer (level 27)
Power: Crimson Aegis Recipes: Five-Finger Workboards, Longboards, Whetstone
When you approach Grayson the Armourer, he will throw a bunch of traps across the arena. If you step on one, it will deal damage and slow your movement speed, making you much more vulnerable to any follow up attacks. Fortunately, there is a way to avoid this effect. In each corner of the arena, you’ll find an armored mannequin. If you interact with a mannequin, you’ll gain a temporary shield that protects you from all damage and negates the traps. This means you can just run over and activate them all without any risk, allowing you to clean up the battlefield before focusing on Grayson.
Goreswine the Ravager (level 27)
Power: Corpse Explosion, Veil of Bones Recipes: Tomb, Skeleton, Ghoul
Goreswine the Ravager primarily uses poison to deal damage over time. They make pools of poisonous liquid erupt from the ground as an AOE attack that will force you to constantly keep moving throughout the fight. These poisonous pools will often block your path to Goreswine, so we recommend using ranged attacks to keep inflicting damage.
Putrid Rat (level 30)
Power: Rat Form
Unlike other bosses, the Putrid Rat cannot be found using the Blood Altar. Instead, you must build the Vermin Nest to make it spawn. While it might be a little trickier to find due to this extra requirement, the boss fight itself shouldn’t prove too troublesome. The Putrid Rat has a low amount of health, making it easy to destroy with your multitude of vampiric powers. Just watch out for a gang of other rats that will appear during the fight, as you might find yourself suddenly overwhelmed. Learn how to summon this boss with our guide to the Putrid Rat in V Rising.
Clive the Firestarter (level 30)
Power: Veil of Chaos Recipes: Alchemy Table, Sulphur, Minor Explosive Box
Clive the Firestarter is V Rising’s resident explosives expert, unleashing endless barrages of bombs and grenades during the fight. Fortunately, you can use this to your advantage, as there are some explosive barrels and crates scattered around the arena that you can trigger. If these explosives detonate near Clive, they will deal a huge chunk of damage and give you a clear advantage in the battle. If you manage to win this fight, you will gain the Minor Explosives Box recipe, which you can use to destroy large chunks of rock.
Polora the Feywalker (level 34)
Power: Spectral Wolf, Veil of Illusion Recipes: Vampire Waygate, Garden Floors, Minor Garlic Resistance Brew
Polora the Feywalker is another magical boss, unleashing ghostly orbs and a spectral wolf to deal damage from a distance. If you get close, Polora will use an attack to apply the fear status effect, forcing you to run away for a few seconds. This prevents you from dealing damage and is quite the nuisance, so we recommend keeping your distance and using your various powers to strike from afar.
Ferocious Bear (level 36)
Power: Bear Form Recipes: Fur Rugs
The Ferocious Bear only has a few attacks, but they deal huge damage. Its primary attack is a melee swipe with its claws, which it tends to use whenever you’re nearby. It will then follow up with a ground slam that causes a tremor within the cave, making rocks fall from the ceiling. The Ferocious Bear is relentless with these attacks, so you won’t get much chance to rest in this fight. Bring healing potions to heal quickly between attacks and try to keep moving at all times. If you stand still, the Ferocious Bear will land plenty of claw hits and kill you in seconds. While dashing away is a useful tool in this battle, we also recommend using the Blood Rite ability. This allows you to counter attacks for a brief moment, damaging your enemy while also slightly healing your character.
Nicholaus the Fallen (level 37)
Power: Pestilence, Ward of the Damned Recipes: Study
At first, Nicholaus the Fallen seems fairly simple, firing out a few magical bolts that are easy to avoid. However, things quickly take a turn when Nicholaus uses their necromancy to raise groups of skeletons from the ground. These added threats make the fight against Nicholaus the Fallen much more chaotic, so make sure to equip some crowd control spells before you jump into the battle.
Quincey the Bandit King (level 37)
Power: Chaos Barrier, Merciless Charge Recipes: Smithy, Tailoring Bench, Iron Ingot, Iron Weapons, Hollowfang Battlegear
Quincy the Bandit King might sound fairly mundane, but their chaos-imbued attacks are anything but. Quincy’s main magical attack unleashes multiple chaos magic fireworks that leave an exploding trail behind. Their spiralling nature makes them hard to dodge, so try to stay behind Quincy as much as possible. Fortunately, they don’t have any other notable attacks, so the pattern for this boss fight is simple to learn.
Beatrice the Tailor (level 38)
Power: Human Form Recipes: Loom, Hunter’s Cloak, Cloth, Cotton Yarn
The battle against Beatrice the Tailor is more of a frantic chase than a fight. Beatrice is a sweet old lady living in one of the many villages of the Dunley Farmlands, and she isn’t equipped to battle vampires. Instead, she panickedly runs away while screaming for the local militia to help. You’ll need to slaughter these guards while chasing Beatrice through the streets, using any vampiric powers that you have to strike her from behind.
Vincent the Frostbringer (level 40)
Power: Frost Barrier, Veil of Frost Recipes: Prison Cell, Reinforced Plank
Vincent the Frostbringer has a unique ability that fires out multiple magical frost missiles. If any of these make contact, they will freeze your character, preventing you from moving or attacking. This effect is meant to last a few seconds, but it will usually end early when Vincent lands a follow up melee attack. Like many other bosses, Vincent also has a few allies who will fire crossbow bolts throughout the battle, so consider killing them first so that you can then focus on Vincent in a 1v1 duel.
Christina the Sun Priestess (level 44)
Power: Purgatory Recipes: Glass, Empty Glass Bottle, Blood Rose Potion, Holy Resistance Potion
Christina the Sun Priestess doesn’t have much armor, making her weak to most attacks. However, that doesn’t mean this fight will be easy. Christina is able to use her holy abilities to heal frequently throughout the battle while her henchmen keep you busy. Deal with these guards first and then you should be able to whittle down Christina afterwards with ease.
Leandra the Shadow Priestess (level 46)
Power: Spectral Assassin Recipes: Jewelcrafting Table, Scourge Pendant, Scourgestone, Skeleton Priest
Like Nicholaus the Fallen, Leandra the Shadow Priestess raises minions to help her in battle. Fortunately, she doesn’t manage to raise quite as many, making this fight feel a little easier in comparison. Leandra also has a fairly low amount of health, so your attacks should rip through her health bar quickly.
Tristan the Vampire Hunter (level 46)
Power: Blood Hunger Recipes: Greater Blood Essence
Tristan the Vampire Hunter is a much harder foe than other bosses in the Farbane Woods, but you might run into him early on in your adventure. If you do, we recommend running away and returning much later, as Tristan is a staggering level 46. Tristan uses a variety of fire-based attacks that will burn your character and cause damage over time, tearing through your health bar at remarkable speed. Come prepared with high-level gear and plenty of health potions to survive this fight.
Terah the Geomancer (level 48)
Power: Spectral Guardian Recipes: Gem Cutting Table, Siege Golem Stone, Regular Gems
Terah the Geomancer lives in the mountains, where you’ll also find countless gems and ore veins. Defeating Terah will allow you to put those gems to good use, as you’ll unlock the Gem Cutting Table. The Spectral Guardian power that you’ll unlock is also very powerful, allowing you to briefly summon a giant golem to protect you from enemies. You’ll find Terah the Geomancer in the northwest of the Dunley Farmlands.
Meredith the Bright Archer (level 52)
Power: Sanguine Coil Recipes: Wool Thread
Meredith the Bright Archer uses her bow to unleash holy attacks, but otherwise isn’t too different from previous archery bosses. Meredith will naturally deal more damage as she is a higher level, but her attacks - a long-range magic arrow and an AOE volley - should be fairly easy to predict. Prepare to dodge incoming projectiles and get in close to deal huge damage and tear Meredith down quickly.
Frostmaw the Mountain Terror (level 56)
Power: Ice Nova Recipes: Scroll
Frostmaw the Mountain Terror is essentially the Krampus of V Rising. It’s truly horrific, actually. Those sharp fangs and gnarled claws deal huge damage, so you’ll want to come prepared for this fight. Despite being the lower level of the two bosses in the Hallowed Mountains, Frostmaw is a true terror that only the most experienced players should face. If you manage to win this battle, you’ll get the Frost Nova ability, which lets you freeze enemies and other players for a few seconds. You’ll find Frostmaw the Mountain Terror in the North of the Hallowed Mountains.
Octavian the Militia Captain (level 58)
Power: Mirror Strike Recipes: Anvil, Dark Silver Ingot, Dawnthorn Regalia, Dark Silver Weapons
Octavian the Militia Captain looks like a simple sword-wielder, but he has some magic attacks that allow him to strike from a distance. When he swings his sword, he’ll occasionally unleash some saw blade effects that travel across the map and cut through players to deal damage. Fortunately, these move slowly and are easy enough to avoid if you keep moving. Make sure you’re constantly aware of them, though, as you’ll get stunned and become vulnerable if one of these sawblades makes contact.
Raziel the Shepherd (level 60)
Power: Crimson Beam Recipes: Athenaeum, Silver Resistance Potion, Corrupted Artefact
Raziel the Shepherd is the leader of the Dunley Monastery, using immense holy power to devastate any stalkers of the night. Fortunately, bringing him down will only make you stronger, as you’ll unlock the Crimson Beam power and Silver Resistance Potion recipe, among other rewards. You can find Raziel in the northwest of the Dunley Farmlands.
Ungora the Spider Queen (level 60)
Power: Volatile Arachnid Recipes: Ghost Yarn, Silk, Spiderling
Ungora the Spider Queen is a large spider lurking deep within the Cursed Forest. Their huge pincers will deal plenty of damage, but those who face the Spider Queen and win will gain the power to summon their own spider allies. You’ll find Ungora the Spider Queen in the centre of the Cursed Forest.
The Duke of Balaton (level 62)
Power: Toad Form
The Duke of Balaton has to be one of our favourite bosses in V Rising. They’re an ugly, colourful toad, which is just so hard to resist. The Duke of Balaton seems to be surrounded by wealth, but you’ll only earn one reward for defeating this boss. Don’t worry, though - it’s very good. If you emerge from the Duke of Balaton’s lair victorious, you’ll gain the power to turn into a toad yourself, which allows you to leap up cliffs. You’ll find the Duke of Balaton along the Northern edge of the Cursed Forest.
Jade the Vampire Hunter (level 62)
Power: Chaos Barrage Recipes: Major Explosive Box, Primal Blood Essence
Like Tristan who you may have previously fought in the Farbane Woods, Jade the Vampire Hunter is a formidable foe. At level 62, this huntress will put up a tough fight with her dual pistols, but you’ll get some excellent rewards if you manage to survive. The Chaos Barrage power you get is particularly powerful, as it is capable of dealing huge magic damage to multiple targets. You’ll find Jade the Vampire Hunter roaming around the centre of the Dunley Farmlands.
Foulrot the Soultaker (level 62)
Power: Mist Trance Recipes: Phantom’s Veil, Spectral Dust, Banshee
Some of V Rising’s bosses look cursed, but Foulrot the Soultaker might be the creepiest among them. Wearing a horse head and wielding two large blades, Foulrot the Soultaker is a cultist who wants to send their victims to hell. If you manage to defeat Foulrot, you’ll get some of that cultist power for yourself, as you’ll unlock the Mist Trance ability. This allows you to temporarily become immaterial, making you invincible to any incoming attacks for a few seconds. You’ll find Foulrot the Soultaker in the southeast of the Cursed Forest.
Willfred the Werewolf Chief (level 64)
Power: Heart Strike Recipes: Holy Resistance Strike
V Rising might be all about vampires, but we all knew werewolves would make an appearance at some point - the two savage monsters go hand-in-hand. Willfred the Werewolf Chief is a formidable boss at level 64, but the Holy Resistance Flask recipe that you get as a reward will prove crucial in later boss fights. You can find Willfred the Werewolf Chief in the werewolf village in the northeast of the Dunley Farmlands, just below the border into the Cursed Forest.
Mairwyn the Elementalist (level 64)
Power: Crystal Lance Recipes: Imperial Thread
Mairwyn the Elementalist is a vicious spellcaster who wields the forces of nature to smite down any foes, including your poor vampire lord. If you manage to defeat the Elementalist, you’ll get your own elemental powers in the form of a Crystal Lance ability that inflicts the Chill effect. You’ll find Mairwyn the Elementalist in the southeast of the Silverlight Hills.
Morian the Stormwing Matriarch (level 68)
Power: Void Recipes: Flawless Gems
Morian the Stormwing Matriarch is a terrifying myth to the people of Brighthaven, but an obvious foe to overcome on your quest to become an almighty vampire. Their magic might be powerful, but those who manage to slay the Stormwing Matriarch will claim that power for themselves and unlock the Void skill. You’ll find Morian the Stormwing Matriarch in the South of the Silverlight Hills.
Azariel the Sunbringer (level 68)
Power: Power Surge Recipes: Gold Ingot
Azariel the Sunbringer has climbed to the seat of power in the Church of Luminance and is a true believer in the holy word. Unfortunately, your vampiric nature seems at odds with his beliefs, so you can duke it out upon reaching level 68. Defeating Azariel is a key step in your journey, as you’ll unlock the ability to get Gold Ingots as a reward. You’ll find Azariel the Sunbringer in the West of the Silverlight Hills.
Terrorclaw the Ogre (level 68)
Power: Arctic Leap
Terrorclaw the Ogre looks like a Xenomorph that spent far too long in the mountains and developed some nasty callouses. Regardless of their real nature, Terrowclaw is a powerful beast that will decimate low level players. At level 68, Terrorclaw can use its rocky body to deal massive damage and will prove to be a formidable baddie. You’ll find Terrorclaw the Ogre in the South of the Hallowed Mountains.
Matka the Curse Weaver (level 72)
Power: Unstable Mosquito Recipes: Schematic, Mosquito
Supposedly one of the oldest witches around, Matka the Curse Weaver is a truly monstrous being who may be responsible for the curse that plagues the Cursed Forest. If you are brave enough to face Matka and strong enough to defeat her, you’ll gain the power to summon explosive mosquitos that chase down your foes. You’ll find Matka the Curse Weaver in the northwest of the Cursed Forest.
Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer (level 76)
Power: Bat Form
After fighting a lot of holy warriors and beasts, it’s about time you faced a vampire yourself. Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer is a particularly powerful vampire from when Dracula was still alive in the world of Vardoran, but now they roam the Cursed Forest alone. If you manage to defeat them, you’ll gain one of the most coveted powers in V Rising - the ability to turn into a bat. Classic vampire stuff. You’ll find Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer in the South of the Cursed Forest.
Gorecrusher the Behemoth (level 78)
Power: Wisp Dance
Gorecrusher the Behemoth may have once been a man, but now they are a twisted amalgamation of tree roots and bones imbued with the magical energy of the Cursed Forest. Gorecrusher is one of the hardest bosses in V Rising at level 78, but the Wisp Dance ability you get after beating them is worth fighting for. If you cast it twice in quick succession, you’ll shoot out wisps that reduce the damage output of nearby enemies for a brief amount of time, giving you a huge advantage in tough fights. You’ll find Gorecrusher the Behemoth in the South of the Cursed Forest.
The Winged Horror (level 78)
Power: Frost Vortex
Despite appearing in the Farbane Woods, the Winged Horror is one of V Rising’s final bosses. At level 78, it wields immense power, but the Frost Vortex power that you get for beating it is well worth the fight. You’ll find the Winged Horror, which is supposedly one of Dracula’s favourite pets, along the Eastern edge of the Farbane Woods.
Solarus the Immaculate (level 80)
Power: Summon Fallen Angel
This is it. Solarus the Immaculate. The final boss of V Rising. At level 80, Solarus is the toughest enemy you’ll find in V Rising, but afterwards your quest to become the ultimate vampire lord will be complete. Solarus’ large blade deals huge damage, which seems appropriate for the oldest and most prestigious member of the Church of Luminance. You’ll find Solarus the Immaculate in the temple to the East of the Silverlight Hills.
How to find bosses in V Rising
To find bosses in V Rising, you must build and use a Blood Altar. You can build a Blood Altar using 180 Stone and 10 Blood Essence, but first you’ll need to complete the Getting Ready For The Hunt quest. To complete this quest, you must:
Construct and interact with a Sawmill. Construct and interact with a Simple Workbench. Increase your gear level to 15.
This will unlock the crafting blueprint for the Blood Altar in the Dominance section of the Production tab in the building menu. After constructing the Blood Altar, interact with it to find a list of V Blood Carriers, which the in-game name for V Rising’s bosses. The list is very long, but you’ll only be able to see those of an appropriate level, as determined by your current Gear Score. To track a boss, simply select them in the Blood Altar and then exit the menu and start walking around. After a few moments, you will see a red wisp stretch from your character in a particular direction. It will continue to vanish and reappear every few seconds, but you can continue to follow the direction of this blood trail as you travel to find the boss. It’s important to note that while the Blood Altar only shows bosses that you are capable of fighting, almost every V Rising boss exists in the world at all times. This means that if you venture out into a dangerous area, you may stumble across a powerful boss that you aren’t equipped to beat with your current gear. You can still try to fight, but we recommend running away until you’ve upgraded your gear. That wraps up our full list of all V Rising boss locations.
